Governor Nelson State Park

Located on the shore of 10,000-acre Lake Mendota, recreation and nature mingle within sight of the State Capitol. This day-use park has a sand beach, boat launch, fish cleaning facility, picnic areas, playground equipment and over 8 miles of hiking trails through woodlands and prairies. Two picnic shelters in the main beach area are reservable.
